A large-scale snack food processing plant in Vietnam installed a new, fully integrated, automated packaging line. The line operates continuously in two shifts year-round, enduring high-humidity environments and frequent wash-down sanitization; the core drive systems of the entire packaging setup utilize our company's Precision Planetary Gearboxes.
II. Project Pain Points
1. Traditional gearboxes exhibited significant positioning errors, leading to misalignment during high-speed labeling and sealing processes and resulting in a high defect rate for finished products.
2. The workshop environment involves high temperatures, high humidity, and frequent wash-downs; standard gearboxes suffered from poor sealing, creating a risk of lubricant leakage and food contamination, while also requiring frequent maintenance and causing significant downtime losses.
3. Rapid line changeovers for various product specifications resulted in sluggish drive response, severe shock during start-stop cycles, noticeable abnormal equipment noise, and gear wear during long-term operation.
4. Low transmission efficiency led to consistently high energy costs during long-term continuous production.
III. Solution
1. Implementation of Planetary Gearboxes with an IP65 protection rating, featuring a fully sealed housing resistant to moisture and wash-downs, and utilizing food-grade lubricants to completely eliminate the risk of oil leakage contaminating the product.
2. Use of low-backlash Precision Planetary Gearboxes offering high output rigidity and improved repeatability, perfectly suited for high-speed reciprocating labeling and sealing stations.
3. Optimized torque density and inertia matching to minimize start-stop shock and reduce operating noise, accommodating the dynamic conditions required for rapid changeovers between diverse product categories.

1. Precise and stable positioning during the packaging process significantly reduces cosmetic defects in finished products and markedly improves the product pass rate.
